Maltverket is a self-initiated case: a series of three craft beers, a lager, a New England IPA and a sour, designed for the Swedish market and the Systembolaget shelf.
The Swedish craft beer category is crowded, colourful and loud. Illustrated cans, neon palettes and character-driven labels all compete for attention, which makes most of them blend together.
Stand out in a category where everyone is shouting, while staying within Swedish alcohol marketing rules, which demand particular moderation. The brand needed a voice that was memorable without ever encouraging people to drink more.
Craft beer shelves reward volume, so the quietest can on the shelf is the one that gets noticed.
Swedes have a shared, slightly ironic relationship with their authorities. Skatteverket, Trafikverket and Livsmedelsverket shape daily life through forms, case numbers, stamps and queue tickets. Everyone recognises the visual language, and everyone has an opinion about it.
That language is also naturally restrained. An authority never sells, it informs.
Nobody expects a beer to talk like an authority.
Myndighetscore

Logo: Maltverket, the authority for malt and fermentation. The name mirrors real Swedish agencies, so it reads as official at first glance.

Coat of arms: a heraldic shield with three bottle caps, arranged two and one. In Swedish a bottle cap is a kronkapsyl, literally a crown cap.

The series: the lager is the rule, the NEIPA is a granted exception, and the sour is a deviation. The series explains itself.

Föreskrift: Om ordning (Regulation: On order). Clear, cold and correct. Deviations will be prosecuted.
Beslut: Om dis (Decision: On haze). The authority has decided this beer shall be cloudy. The decision cannot be appealed.
Avvikelse: Om syra (Deviation: On acidity). A deviation from current taste standards has been noted.

The form: ten standardised fields shared by every can, from appearance to bitterness. Each beer ticks different boxes.

Every case is examined: measured, inspected and weighed.

Webbplats (website): an agency website with open cases, e-services and processing times. Appeals are not handled.

Servicekontor (service office): a pop-up bar run as a temporary branch office. Take a queue ticket and wait for your number.

Materiel (Merch): a glass with a fill line marked Godkänd mängd, approved amount.

Delgivning (official service of notice): the press kit arrives as the brown envelope every Swede dreads opening, containing a decision and a beer.

Tillsyn (inspection): a decal for venues selling the beer, styled after official inspection stickers.
Maltverket is a fictional authority and a self-initiated project, not a real brand.
